Böcker på YouTube [Books on YouTube]: The Lizzie Diaries

Jag vet inte hur jag kom över det här, men jag måste dela med mig till alla er som älskar Jane Austen och olika versioner av boken Stolthet och Fördom— eller till er som tycker om John Green, och  till folk som gillar litteratur på YouTube i allmänhet.

I don't know how I came across this, but I just have to share it with all of you who love Jane Austen and the various versions of the book Pride and Prejudice, and also those of you who like John Green, and with people who like literature on YouTube in general.

Detta är alltså en webb-serie i vlogg format som är baserad på Stolthet ochFördom.  Lizzie Bennet är en 24-årig student som läser strategisk kommunikation, hon bor hemma med en mamma som vill att sina döttrar ska gifta sig rika. Hon vloggar om hur det är att bo hemma med sin familj och sakerna som pågår i hennes umgängeskrets. Avsnitten är mellan 3-5 minuter och storyn är välskriven och rolig. 

Och innan jag börjar prata om skådespelandet vill jag säga att det här inte är vilket webb-serie som helst. Det är inte en grupp vänner som har bestämt sig att göra något roligt och lägga upp det på internet (jag måste erkänna att det tar lite ifrån charmen med att kolla på en webb-serie på YouTube, men…) det är ett professionellt team som står bakom serien med kända (på internet) skådepelare och allt. 

Hank Green är seriens producent. Han är John Greens (ja, jag menar den populära författaren av ungdomsböcker!) bror och de håller i webshowerna Vlogbrothers, och CrashCourse tillsammans. Hank är en av dem som startade VidCon, blah blah blah blahblah… Bernie Su som har skapat webbserien Compulsions är också producent, etc (läs mer om de andra bakomserien). 

Nå, skådespeleriet är av bra kvalité, inte alls amatöraktigt… eller ja, det är skådespelare som spelar amatörer, men de är inte amatörer som försöker skådespela. Ashley Clements är otroligt bra som Lizzie Bennet, men den riktiga stjärnan är MaryKate Wiles (Zelda) som spelar Lizzie’s syster Lydia— Wiles gör Lydia till sin egen. 

The Lizzie Diaries består inte bara av YouTube avsnitten; de vill ge en känsla av att Lizzies liv är på riktigt så alla karaktärer som är inblandade har bloggar, facebook och twitter-konton som man kan följa. Ok, so this is a vlog web-series based on Pride and Prejudice. Lizzie Bennet is a 24- year-old student studying strategic communications. She lives at home with a mother who wants her daughters to marry into rich families, and she vlogs about how it's like to live at home with her family and the different going on in her surroundings. The episodes are between 3-5 minutes and the story is well written and funny.

And before I start talking about the acting, I would just like to point out that this is not just some web-series that's out there. No no no, it's not a group of friends who have decided to do something fun and put it up on the internet (I have to admit that it would have been way cooler if that were the case, but ...), there is a professional team of internet-famous actors and the works, behind this production.

Hank Green is series' producer. For the YA newbs, he is John Green's (yes, the John Green of The Fault in Our Stars & other fan favorite YA novels) brother. He is also the other half of the Youtube shows Vlogbrothers, and CrashCourse. Hank is one of the people who started VidCon, and blah blah blah blah blah... Bernie Su, also a producer of the show, has created web series Compulsions, etc (click here to read more about everyone else involved in this the Lizzie Diaries production).

Right, the acting is really good-- I mean not at all amateurish... well, the actors are playing amateurs, but they're not actual amateurs (amateurception!). Ashley Clements is incredibly good as Lizzie Bennet, but the real star is Mary Kate Wiles (Zelda) who plays Lizzie's sister Lydia-- Wiles not only makes Lydia her own, but takes the character to a whole new level.

The Lizzie Diaries is not just comprised of the YouTube episodes: the makers want to give us the feeling that Lizzie's life is real, so all the characters have blogs, and you can follow them on social media sites like Facebook and twitter. I can't say this enough, but this some quality YouTube! I wish there were more such shows! I've been looking, but have not found, do you have any tips?
