En Rolig Enkät [A Fun Survey]

Tänkte vara med och svara på en trevlig liten enkät som har poppat upp på bokbloggar (bl.a. hos Pocketlover, Unga böcker, och Unga vuxna) de senaste dagarna.  ^.^

Senaste böckerna jag läste: Har just avslutat Lemony Snickets A Series of Unfortunate Events:The Ersatz Elevator (Syskonen Baudelaires olycksaliga liv: Det hemliga hisschaktet) som är bok 6 av 13, en väldigt mysig bok att lyssna på även och det handlar om olyckliga barn och elaka, opportunistiska vuxna.

Böcker jag läser just nu: My Dirty Little Book of Stolen Time av Liz Jensen, och O Passado Que Seremos av Inês Botelho (en av mina tre på tre böcker). Jensens bok är väldigt underhållande, jag tycker bra om den, men har inte lyckats komma in i Botelhos bok ännu— handlingen är för långsam och jag tror att formatet jag läser boken på (e-book på datorn) är den största orsaken till att den är så seg. Jag har normalt sätt inga problem med att läsa facklittetur på datorn, men jag anar att jag har svårt att leva mig in i en skönlitterär bok på det sättet. *suck*

Böcker jag ser fram emot: Jag ska dela upp den här frågan i tre delar: Böcker jag ser fram emot att påbörja idag eller imorgon- Lemony Snickets ASeries of Unfortunate Events: The Vile Village (Syskonen Baudelaires olycksaliga liv: Den bedrövliga byn). Böcker jag ser fram emot att läsa inom en snar framtid- A Verdadeira Invasão do Marcianos (Den Verkliga Invasionen Från Mars) av João Barreiros, beställde boken från förlaget i Portugal i helgen och jag längtar till att få läsa den. Böcker jag ser fram emot att läsa när de kommer ut- Across the Universe: Shades ofEarth av Beth Revis som kommer ut i januari 2013, ska bli kul att äntligen få reda på alla hemligeter kring skeppet Godspeed!

Senaste filmerna jag såg: Skyfall som troligtvis många andra gjorde i helgen. Ett gaska okej film, även om den var lite för lång för min smak, men jag gillar att Daniel Craigs Bond håller på att utvecklas mer och mer till den klassiska Bondkaraktären för varje film som kommer ut.  

Filmer jag ser fram emot: Berättelsen om Pi och Hobbit:En Oväntad Resa!!!

Senaste TV-serierna jag såg: 2 Broke Girls och How I Met Your Mother— kommer man någonsin att få reda på hur Ted träffar barnens mor? Jag anar att om det händer så kommer det antagligen att vara ett antiklimax… men jag gillar Barney och Lily så jag forsätter att kolla på serien.

TV-serier jag längtar efter: Leverage, Girls, Game of Thrones och The Newsroom. 

Musik jag lyssnar på just nu: —Det är lite pinsamt att behöva skriva detta— GangmanStyle (jag skämmer ut min kära sambo genom att göra hästdansen lite då och då t.ex. när vi går upp/ner för trappor och på vägen till och från bilen. Jag borde inse att jag faktiskt är vuxen nu och därför inte borde tramsa mig på det sättet, men det är så kul!)… just nu lyssnar jag också på I Love It av Icona Pop, SomebodyThat I Used To Know av Gotye, CamaroAmarelo av Munhoz & Mariano, och Eyeof the Tiger av Survivor.  

Musik jag ser fram emot: Har hört att Aerosmith justsläppt en ny platta! Det är deras första platta sedan 2001, Aerosmith är nog mitt favoritband så jag är väldigt nyfiken och peppad!

I thought I'd answer this nice little survey that has popped up on different book blogs lately (including Pocktloveer, Unga böcker, and Unga vuxna).^.^

The most recent books I've read: I've just finished Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Ersatz Elevator, which is book 6 in a series of 13. It's a cozy read despite being about unhappy children at the mercy of nasty, opportunistic adults.

Books I'm reading right now: My Dirty Little Book of Stolen Time by Liz Jensen, and O Passado Que Seremos (The Past That We Will Become) by Inês Botelho. Jensen's book is very entertaining and I really like it, but haven't managed to get into the Botelho's book yet— I think the plot is too slow and the format in which I'm reading it in (the e-book format Epub on your computer) is not helping this books case at all. Normally, I have no problems reading non fiction on the computer, but I suspect that I'm it find hard to live myself into a fictional story that way. *sigh*

Books I'm looking forward to: I'll split this question into three parts- 

- Books I'm looking forward to start today or tomorrow - Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Vile Village. 

- Books I'm looking forward to reading in the near future - A Verdadeira Invasão dos Marcianos (The Real Martian Invasion) by João Barreiros, which I've ordered from the publisher in Portugal this weekend and I can't wait to read it. 

- Books I'm looking forward to reading when they come out - Shades of Earth by Beth Revis coming out in January 2013, it will be great to finally find out all secrets about Godspeed and its people!

Most recent movie I watched: Skyfall, like so many other people did this weekend. It was an okay movie, although it was a little too long for my taste, but I do like that Daniel Craig's Bond is evolving to become more and more like the classic Bond-character for every movie that comes out.

Movies I'm looking forward to: Life of Pi and The Hobbit:An Unexpected Journey!

Latest TV series I watched: 2 Broke Girls and How I Met Your Mother- will we ever find out how Ted hits the children's mother? I suspect that if that happens, it will probably be a huge anticlimax ... but I like Barney and Lily, so I keep on watching the series.

TV series I'm waiting for: Leverage , Girls, Game of Thrones and The Newsroom.

Music I'm listening to right now: It's a little embarrassing to have to write this, but— Gangman Style (I keep embarrass my boyfriend by doing the horse dance from time to time eg when we go up/down the stairs and on our way to and from the car. I should realize that I'm actually an adult now, and stop goofing around in such a ridiculous way, but it's just so much fun!)... right now I'm also listening to I Love It by Icona Pop, Somebody that I Used To Know by Gotye , Camaro Amarelo by Munhoz & Mariano, and Eye of the Tiger by Survivor.

New music I'm looking forward to: I have heard that Aerosmith just released a new album! It is their first album since 2001 , Aerosmith 's probably my favorite band so I'm very curious and psyched!

Bygg Din Egen Ljudboksspelare! [Build Your Own Audiobook Player]

 Igår läste jag om en riktigt fyndig liten uppfinning på internet: en man som byggde en enkel ljudboksspelare åt sin svärmor i 90-års present. Hon har svårt att se och föredrar att lyssna på ljudböcker men förstår sig inte på mp3 spelare. 

Historien är inte bara gullig, det visar också att om man är lite teknisk av sig så kan man faktiskt bygga en billig liten ljudboksspelare alldeles själv till kostnaden av några hundra kronor! 

 

Spelaren har bara en knapp och det enda man behöver göra är att sätta in ett USB-minne med en ljudbokfil i spelaren för att ladda över den till spelaren, och när det är klart är det bara att trycka på knappen och börja lyssna— lätt som en plätt! 

Yesterday, while trolling the internet, I read about this really clever little invention: a man who built a simple audiobook player for his mother-in-law as a present on her 90th birthday. The elderly lady finds it difficult to see, and thus prefers to listen to books instead, but doesn't understand how to use an mp3 player.

This story isn't just cute, it also shows that if you're a bit handy you can actually build a cheap little audiobook player all by yourself at the cost of a few hundred crowns!

The player only has one button, and the only thing you need to do is insert a USB flash drive with a audiobook file into the player, and when it is finished downloading, you simply press the button and start listening-- Piece of cake!

Är man sugen på att bygga ljudbokspelaren själv (vem vet, kanske är detta en bra budgetjulklapp för far-och-mor föräldrar?) så finns Michael Clemes anvissningarna HÄR.

Själv använder jag telefonen och datorn för att lyssna på mina ljudböcker, men det är ganska kul att läsa om det! Och jag ska definitivt spara den här sidan för framtiden, man vet aldrig när det kan komma till nytta. ^^

If you're  eager to for a DIY project you can actually try your hand at making this (as a budget X-mas gift for your grandparents, perhaps?), since Michael Clemes has published the instructions HERE. 

Personally I use my phone and computer for listening to my audiobooks, but it is still quite fun to read about it! And I'll definitely save this page for the future, you never know when it might come in useful. ^^

Tosca

Igår såg jag operan Tosca av Giacomo Puccini på Malmö Opera. Den är baserad på Victorien Sardous (då) kända teaterpjäs La Tosca, som hade premiär 1887. Puccini såg den i Paris och blev inspirerad att göra om pjäsen till en opera. Numera spelas inte teaterpjäsen mer eftersom operan har blivit så populär.

Det var ingen storslagen produktion, utan en avskalad föreställning på Verkstan (den allra minsta scenen på Malmö stadsteater) där musiken stod i fokus. Oftast är operor väldigt glamorösa, där man får se underbara kostymer och fantastiska scenuppsättningar samtidigt som man får uppleva musiken.  Själv tycker jag att operor upplevs bäst som en explosion av glamour— annars kan man lika gärna gå på en klassisk konsert. 

Men tisdagens föreställning var rätt mysig och ett helt ok sätt att spendera 135 spänn på. De lyckades få den lilla scenen att räcka till mycket. Jag gillade sopranen Laine Quists röst, men tyckte att killarna (Joachim Bäckström & Kosma Rauner) var lite för skrikiga. Det bästa var nog ackompanjemanget (piano, cello och klarinett). Måste tilläga att jag älskar alla de fina bilderna som finns i programmet, det är en välgjord liten bok.<3

Yesterday, I went to see the opera Tosca by Giacomo Puccini at Malmö Opera. It is based on Victorien Sardou's (then) famous play La Tosca, which premiered in 1887. Puccini saw it in Paris and was inspired to turn the play into an opera. Nowadays, the play is not performed anymore, because the opera is medium which most people want to experience the story in.

This was not a grand production, but a stripped-down show made to focus us on the music, at Malmö Opera's smallest stage (Verkstan). Normally, operas tend to be very glamorous, where you get to see extravagant costumes and amazing stage productions as you listen to the with the music. And personally, I like operas the best when the production goes all out in an explosion of glamour-- otherwise what is the point? One might as well go to a classical concert. 

But Tuesday's performance was a quite cozy and reasonable way to spend 135 crowns (SEK). They managed to optimal use of the small stage. I liked the soprano (Laine Quist), but thought that the guys (Joachim Bäckström & Kosma Rauner) were a little pitchy. The best part of the whole thing though was the accompaniment (piano, cello & clarinet). And finally, I have to add that I absolutely love the program booklet, with it's gorgeous candlelight pictures. <3

Hungerspelskopian: Revolution?! [The Hunger Games Rip Off?]

För några dagar sedan såg jag den nya TV-serien Revolution. Jag såg fram emot den, men när jag var typ 20 minuter in i pilotavsnittet kunde jag inte skaka av känslan av att Revolution var en rip off av Hungerspelen (böckerna och filmen).  Jag kunde bara inte låta bli att se likheterna mellan de två, nedan har vi listan på likheterna: 

1-Postapokalyptisk miljö.

2-En regering som förtrycker befolkningen.

3-En tjej som måste försvara ett yngre syskon.

4-De använder pilbågar- visserligen har huvudpersonen uppgraderat till armborst men ändå...

5-Det finns en het kille som inte går att lita på.

6-Folk som försöker starta en hemlig revolution mot regeringen. 

Tillfällighet? Hmmm…  

Jag är inte den enda som tycker samma sak; Wired poängterar att tv-serien rider på Hungerspelsvågen och  New York Post skriver att Revolution är vad man får när Hungerspelen möter Lost eller Terra Nova. Jag har aldrig sett Lost, men jag kan hålla med om att miljöerna ser ut som dem i Terra Nova: det har bara gått 15 år sedan elektriciteten gick ner och växterna har nästan totalt tagit över i den stora asfaltdjungeln som är Chicago.

A few days ago I saw the new TV series Revolution. I was looking forward to it, but when I got about 20 minutes into the pilot episode, I could not shake the feeling that it was a rip off of The Hunger Games (books and movie). I just could not help but see the similarities between the two stories, take a look:

1 -Post Apocalyptic setting.

2- A government that oppresses people.

3- A girl who has to protect a younger sibling .

4- They use bows and arrows, granted, the protagonist in Revolution has upgraded to a crossbow...

5- There is a hot guy who cannot be trusted.

6- People are try to start a secret uprising against the government.

Coincidence? Hmmm ...

I'm not the only one who is thinking along the same lines: Wired points out that TV is surfing on the on Hunger Games waves and the New York Post writes that the Revolution is what you get when Hunger Games meets Lost or Terra Nova. I've never seen Lost, but I can agree that the environments look like the ones in Terra Nova: it has only been 15 years since the electricity went down and the plants have almost completely taken over in the big concrete jungle that is Chicago.

Vad vad tycker ni? Fågel eller Fisk? Själv har jag inte bestämt mig ännu...
