30 Days of Books- Day 17: Favorite quote from your favorite book

Asså det här med favoriter är svårt om man bara ska välja en grej. Att komma på en favorit-någonting är för mig lite som en självupptäckelsefärd där det inte räcker med att jag försöker svara på vad som är bra litteratur, utan jag måste också konfrontera mig själv med frågor som de här: vad är det som jag gillar egentligen? är det verkligen det här?

I alla fall, så var det rätt lätt att komma på ett citat från en av mina favorit-böcker: 

OK, this whole thing with picking favorites is quite hard... it's hard to just pick one thing! I've discovered that to come up with a favorite something or the other, I have to go on a sort of self-discover journey: I not only have to think about what good literature is, but also have to confront myself with questions like "what is it really that I like about this quote?"

Maybe the rant above doesn't really make sense, but in any case, this time around it was quite easy to come up with a quote from one of my all time favorite books: 

"Only old Benjamin professed to remember every detail of his long life and to know that things never had been, nor ever could be much better or much worse - hunger, hardship and disappointment being, so he said, the unalterable law of life." – Animal Farm (Djurfarmen) av George Orwell

Kanske är det ett ganska fatalistiskt citat, men det stämmer ofta då det gäller politik, eftersom det som driver många som engagerar sig i politik är strävan efter makt mer än något annat. 

Perhaps the quote above is fatalistic in nature, but it fits the current political climate, I think. This because those who are in politics are in it for the power more than anything else.
