Sagara Sousuke.
favorit.
Sagaras story är
lite som Pygmalion, fast med omvända könroller. Tjejen får vara Dr. Higgins och
tar an utmaningen att försöka civilisera klassens (mist sagt) konstiga nörd.
Sousuke
Sagara Sousuke. He is my number 1 on all lists about everything! ... Well, at least he's my favorite literary man.
Perhaps you thought it'd be Mr. Darcy (from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen), since lots of men have had the misfortune of not living up to his impossible romantic standards. And yes, there was a time (before Full Metal Panic! by Shouji Gatou) when I, myself, thought Mr. Darcy was the perfect man. But, such is not the case anymore...
Sagara's story is a bit like Pygmalion, albeit with reversed gender roles. The girl gets to be the Dr. Higgins-character who takes on the challenge of civilizing the class wierdo.
Sousuke, who is 17, is a Sergeant for a private anti-terrorist military organization. When he was four or five he was the sole survivor of the plane crash that killed his parents, and as a result he was taken in by the Soviet State and trained by the KGB to be a child soldier. He has, thus, fought in many wars, and needless to say, his whole world is the military. Sagara is an awesome soldier, but he's faced with the toughest mission of this career: to be the life guard for a high school girl living in modern day Japan. Since he has no experience of civilian life, it's a real challenge to maintain his cover. And because his social skills are lacking, he manages to get into really absurd scrapes.
What I love about Sousuke (and what ultimately makes him unbelievably sexy) is that he is a good person. He tries to do the right thing (despite his various degrees of failure). He really tries to adapt to civilian life. He's disciplined, intelligent, tenacious, pragmatic, yet humble. Finally, he would do everything for his love Kaname Chidori. :)
PS: No one can tell me that Sousuke is just an unrealistic female fantasy, because Full Metal Panic! is written by a man, so there! :P
